There are an extraordinary number of different wines in the world, made from thousands of different grape varieties grown in hugely varying conditions. And winemakers have hundreds of techniques they can use to affect the style and taste of the wine that they make from those grapes. It takes years of study (and a lot of tasting – it’s a tough life!) to understand this complex world. The joy of wine is this variety, but many people find it difficult to know which wines they will like. This can be a barrier to exploring new grapes, regions and winemakers. Our mission is to help you explore by understanding your personal tastes, and then using our knowledge of wine to recommend an interesting range of wines which are tailored to you. It’s like having your own personal sommelier.

We have created a unique model of the world of wine based on the different flavour profiles that characterise wine. The model is based on years of studying wine and tasting thousands of bottles. This model allows us to quantify the flavours which make up each wine.

Our taste test is carefully structured to give us an accurate snapshot of the styles of wine that you currently enjoy drinking. By asking you a series of comparative questions about which wines you drink, we are able to build an accurate model of your palate without having to ask lots of technical questions about wine chemistry.

Once we have a model of your personal wine taste, we can overlay this onto our wine flavour model and build a case of wines for you based on your unique preferences. This allows us to send you wines which you will love.
What’s really exciting about this is that the world of wine is full of little-known gems. Talented young winemakers, up-and-coming regions, rare grape varieties… It’s very hard for most people to discover these hidden treasures. But we can introduce you to a selection of them because we understand which styles of wine you enjoy.

All of our wines are hand-picked by our Master of Wine, Jon. He has been buying wine for restaurants and independent wine merchants for many years, and has a fantastic portfolio of wine on hand. They range from superb value examples of the best known grapes and regions to unknown gems from boutique producers and up-and-coming winemakers. You certainly won’t find any of them in your local supermarket.
